Synopsis

“Ocean in a Teacup” is a “spiritual quest” musical drama based on the true story.

An American Red Cross medic’s  search for renewed meaning and purpose after betraying his pacifist vow “never to kill” in India during  World War Two.  He meets an Indian saint, in the tradition of Mother Teresa, who shows him a possible path to redemption thru selfless service to the poor and displaced people of 1946 Bengal.   A unique and emotional love triangle is formed when his fiancé arrives from Ohio to try and bring him back to The States.

Ocean in a Teacup is Joel’s first musical.  As the leader and founder of “The JK Band” he has performed at over 2800 private parties and events in the NYC area.  Always a prolific songwriter pursuing a singer/songwriter career, he turned his musical aspirations toward theater and “Ocean in a Teacup”. This show is personal for him, since he got the story and the mission to tell it, directly from the source, Ray Hauserman, who became his mentor when he returned to the USA after spending 25 years in India.
